System requirements and performance tips

Dehancer is a complex software with sophisticated algorithms. We are constantly improving the performance, however, high-quality film simulation still requires top hardware to run smooth in realtime.

Dehancer 4 is built upon the new cross-platform engine. Although we are making every effort to optimise the plugin for best performance, it will run noticeably slower than the Metal version for Mac.

1. Dehancer OFX plugin for Mac

Hardware requirements:

  • Apple Macintosh, starting from middle 2012
  • Metal-enabled GPU is required
  • External and multi-GPU are supported (Intel Macintosh only)
  • Apple Silicon M1 optimised (two different distributives for Intel and for M1 provided with installation package)

Software compatibility:

  • macOS Mojave 10.14.5 or later
  • macOS Big Sur compatible
  • DaVinci Resolve 16 and 17

Known issues:

  • Intel Iris GPU may produce visual glitches and artefacts. This is a system bug, the only solution is using an external GPU.
  • Apple M1 doesn’t officially support the external GPU, at the moment.
  • We do not support ‘Hackintosh’ and other home-brew systems, while it could worth a try.

2. Dehancer OFX plugin for Windows

Hardware requirements:

  • PC with Nvidia or AMD GPU
  • CUDA and OpenCL compatible
  • External and multi-GPU are supported

GPU memory consumption:

  • FullHD video – 4GB minimum / 8GB recommended
  • 4K video – 8GB / 12GB
  • 6K video – 12GB / 16GB
  • 8K video – 16GB / 24GB

Software compatibility:

  • Windows 10 64 bit (genuine licensed installation is required)
  • DaVinci Resolve 16 and 17
